This edition of the Newsletter is an Anorak’s paradise, stats, stats, and more stats. Oh yes, there are some tables as well.
THE KIWI EX-BLUE
You may remember that before the start of this season, Barrow played Dundee in a friendly at Holker Street. In that game a New Zealander called Scott Smith played for Barrow, for whatever reason he didn’t sign for the club and is now with Woking, but he has just received a call up for the New Zealand side to play Chile in a friendly here in New Zealand next month.
Thanks to John Simmonds for that.
Richard Ingham has sent me the Barrow home programme from the Altrincham game, and the following was included which I thought would be of interest.

BARROW’S DISCIPLINARY RECORD
If anything is going to cost Barrow points this season it’s players having players miss games through suspensions. Living in New Zealand it’s impossible to pass judgement on the players, so I won’t. This is a list of bookings and sending off (in brackets) up to the home game against Altrincham.
Prior 10 (2), Brown 8, O’Keefe 8, Johnston 4, Jones 4, Coates 3, Cooper 2, Bauress 1, Farrelly 1, Hennigan 1, Humphreys 1, Higgins 1, Robertson 1, Marginson 1, McAuley 2 and Wright 1.
COLOURED BARROW PLAYERS
In the last Newsletter I asked who was the first coloured player to play for Barrow AFC. Clive Roddie has been in touch and reckons it was Dave Busby (1979/80, 10 appearances, 2 goals), then came Trevor Brissett (1984-85, 5/0) and then Walter Nesbitt (1985/87, 20(1)/2). Since then it’s Paul Robertson who’s in the present squad.
