Barrow disappointed the optimistic faithful with a draw at hot and sunny Holker Street. A late goal earned a point but they paid a heavy price with 3 yellow cards and a sending off. Five of the six new signings were on show, though Hopper and Nesovic started on the bench. Bullimore sent a free kick wide early on, then Housham blasted over the bar. The visitor's first chance came on 13 minutes when Huckerby shot weakly at Bennett. Tarrant and Anthony both shot wide then Barrow's best chance came on 23 minutes when a Ward shot was blocked and Maxfield's follow up was well saved. The game went scrappy, but Ward should have made more of a chance in the 34th minute when he tried to walk it in. Hucknall shocked the large crowd by taking the lead from a corner on 38 minutes. Bennett seemed to misjudge the cross which fell to Huckerby 6 yards out and he blasted in. Warren was booked, then a Ward header was saved before Housham was booked just before the interval.

Tarrant shot high and wide at the start of the second half, then Shaw and Cook were booked in separate incidents. In the 61st minute, Hall replaced Hume, then Nesovic came on for Anthony as Barrow went 4-3-3. Ward was the next in the book as Barrow turned up the pressure. Unfortunately, Housham collected his second yellow card in the 82nd minute for an innocuous challenge and was dismissed. However, the equaliser came with 4 minutes to go when the visiting keeper handled a back pass. Warren chipped the ball back to Bullimore, who lofted over the 10 man wall for a great goal. In an exciting finale, Hall had a header saved and Shaw shot just wide, but a draw was a fair result.
