Ian Stevens - Forward

Born in Malta, Ian began his career as a trainee with Preston North End. He made his debut in their first team during the 1984-85 season and made 11 league appearances for them, scoring twice before moving on to Stockport County where he made just two appearances without scoring. He had a brief spell with Lancaster City before joining Bolton Wanderers where he spent five seasons making 47 league appearances and scoring seven times.
He moved to Bury in 1991 and enjoyed three successful seasons at Gigg Lane scoring 38 times in 110 league appearances for them. He moved in 1994 to Shrewsbury Town where he spent just under three seasons scoring 37 times in 111 league outings.
In 1996, he joined Carlisle United for the first time. He scored 26 times in 78 league games before moving to Wrexham. He made only 16 league appearances for the Welsh side scoring four times. During his time at the Racecourse Ground he also had a game on loan at Cheltenham Town. He returned to Carlisle in 2000 and made a further 67 appearances scoring 20 times before spending 2002-03 with Shrewsbury Town where he scored twice in 18 league games. He was released in the summer and joined Barrow in August 2003. He made his debut on the opening day of the season at Droylsden. Sadly, his form failed to reach expectations and he was released to join Scottish Third Division side Gretna in September 2003. He made his debut for the Scots at Elgin City and managed to get sent off. Subsequently he settled in for the Scots and scored regularly for the Raydale Park side.

Later played for Fleetwood Town 2004-05 to 2005-06 and retired in the summer of 2006. Came out of retirement in November 2006 to sign for his home town club Lancaster City, but retired again in December 2006. Re-laced his boots for Lancaster City in August 2007.
