Neil Tarrant - Striker

Born 24/6/79 in Darlington, Neil was a trainee with his hometown club but failed to make their Football League side. He had a trail with Shamrock Rovers but moved to Ross County in November 1997. He scored 20 times in 44 League games at Victoria Park before joining Aston Villa for a reported fee of £250,000 in April 1999. He failed to make the Villa Park first team and was loaned out to Ayr United (15 appearances, 4 goals) and York City (7 appearances, 1 goal) before being released in the summer of 2001.
He returned to Scotland and joined Motherwell for whom he made 5 League appearances without scoring. He had a further spell with Ross County making 7 appearances without scoring before joining Boston United in February 2002. He made 10 appearances, scoring once as the Pilgrims moved to the Conference title.
Neil joined Barrow in August 2002, making his debut on the opening day of the season against Hucknall Town. In October, he netted the winning goal in in an F.A. Cup replay with Nuneaton Borough which took the club through to the F.A. Cup proper. He left the club briefly in January 2003 for a trial with Busan Icons in South Korea but returned to Holker Street the following month. He made his final appearance for the club at the start of April 2003 in the home win over Bradford Park Avenue. He then signed a full time contract with League of Ireland side Drogheda United. Subsequently he played both in Singapore and latterly for Norwegian side Raufoss. He returned to Holker Street in January 2005. Released in May 2006 and joined Workington the following month.

A slow start to his career up the coast saw Neil join Gateshead on loan in October 2006 to get match fit, this move became permanent soon after, but in January 2007 "Taz" signed for Newcastle Blue Star after his release from the Tynesiders.
