Tom Cowan - Defender

Tom joined Clyde from Netherdale Boys Club in 1988 and made 16 appearances for the Bully Wee, scoring twice before securing a big money move to Rangers. He made 12 first team appearances for the Ibrox club in three years before joining Sheffield United. Over the following three seasons, he made 45 League appearances for the Blades and also had a short loan spell with Stoke City. Towards the end of the 1993=94 season he joined Huddersfield Town and in 5 years made 137 league appearances for the Terriers, scoring five times. That spell included a lengthy spell out with injury. He moved on to Burnley where he made 20 league appearances and then he joined Cambridge United in 2000. He made 50 league appearances for United before being released. He spent the 2002-03 season with York City making 33 league appearances and then in the summer of 2003, he joined Carlisle United and was a member of the squad that lost its League place in the summer of 2004 and he then helped them regain that league place through the play offs last term.

He was released by Carlisle United the summer of 2005 and joined Gretna as a Football in the Community Officer but not as a player. He signed for Barrow in July 2005 and made his debut at home to Hednesford Town in August. Left in December 2005 to join Workington Reds. Left Workington for Hucknall Town in October 2006. Had a spell at Stalybridge Celtic in the 2006-07 season. Joined Hyde United in summer 2007. In January 2008 Tom joined Retford but retired from the semi-pro game soon afterwards. Is believed to be training as a fireman.
